Let's be honest. Camping is great for exactly two reasons: maximum flexibility and time in nature.
However, since free standing is illegal in large parts of Europe, `camping close to nature` requires the right campsites. Especially in popular camping regions such as Italy, these are not easy to find. Art around the forest? You can find it at the Parco Sculture del Chianti. The park offers a permanent exhibition of sculptures by contemporary artists from 5 continents in the middle of an extensive forest.
So my conclusion is: Tuscany camping doesn't have to be touristy. There are great places surrounded by green countryside and hilly landscapes where you can not only enjoy the peace and quiet, but also a great view.
